Ana Rosa Rivera Marrero

1

Description

Past FWM Artist-in-Residence Ana Rosa Rivera Marrero worked with studio staff during her 2006 residency to examine Caribbean colonial architecture, feminism and performance art. The artist produced 3 large scale sculptures, collectively titled Columna/Skirt, which combine elements of colonial architecture with traditional sewing and pattern-making techniques. Combining masculine elements of the column with feminine elements of traditional clothing forms, Marrero’s sculptures symbolize complex power dynamics.
