Singing Siren

Description

Animals have been a consistent motif in Kiki Smith’s work since the mid-1990s, when she began moving away from the body as the sole subject of her artistic explorations. In this piece, she merges human and animal features, creating a new mythology that invites us to explore change within ourselves. Singing Siren (2003) is made of cast plastic and includes a motion sensor, sound device and audio.
