An umbrella sits against a grey background. It is bright and colorful, with pop art style knives with bright red blades and tips, outlined in electric yellow with a dark zigzag and sitting against a bright blue background. The umbrella has a curved wooden handle. The image shows the same umbrella and print against a grey background, but from a more directly head-on angle so you can't see the handle, only the top of the open umbrella facing the camera.

Description

Luis Cruz Azaceta is a Cuban born artist and past FWM Artist-in-Residence whose style has evolved from “Apocalyptic pop” to Neo-expressionism, highlighting his bold colors and jarring forms. Azaceta’s paintings reflect the experiences of his youth, portraying themes of violence, injustice, and human capacity for cruelty. Designed in conjunction with a rain jacket of the same print, this umbrella depicts bloody, primary red knives falling from a royal blue sky.

Luis Cruz Azaceta, in collaboration with The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia.
