Catalogue for Jean Shin’s 2006 exhibition TEXTile, at The Fabric Workshop and Museum. The main work of this exhibition was an interactive “fabric” embedded with thousands of keyboard keys, which spelled out the e-mail correspondence between Shin and the FWM staff members she collaborated with. The “fabric” was 46 inches wide and 25 feet long, and was fixed to a desk-shaped armature at one end, with three rows of interactive keys. At the other end of the fabric was plain cloth, upright to create a projection screen. Visitors were able to type on the keyboard, and whatever they wrote would be projected at the other end of the cloth, above what had been previously written, creating an endless communication.
