A catalogue of Mary Reid Kelley’s exhibition Working Objects and Videos, presented at the State University of New York Art Museum in 2014. The reader gets a look at the creation and function of the objects, costumes, paintings and drawings Reid Kelley creates for her short films, which pull richly animated themes and characters from history, mythology and even her own life. These crafted props play a large part in her narratives, by helping set the stage to blur the line between real and artificial reality. This book includes an essay by Daniel Belasco, and an interview with Mary Reid Kelley and Patrick Kelley about their process, and the nature of their unique collaboration.
