Description
Usagi, named after the Japanese word for rabbit, was born out of artist Nami Yamamoto’s desire to make a gift for a co-worker's newborn. While primarily a drawing and installation artist, Yamamoto also enjoys sewing and practices the Japanese concept of “Mottainai” or “waste not, want not.” Through this sustainable process, the artist utilizes fabric scraps from other sewing projects to create these charming stuffed animals.

Short dimensions: 18.5 x 4.75 x 4 inches
Material (varies): Cotton, linen, and wool. Polyester fiberfill.
Each doll is unique with varying dress and pocket patterns.
Care: Spot clean with water and mild detergent.

Nami Yamamoto is a Japanese artist who lives and works in Philadelphia. Her primary practices are drawings and installations that explore her fascination with natural phenomenon and ways that visual language can be used to illuminate the ineffable. While not part of her main artistic practice, Yamamoto often enjoys sewing in her spare time.
