Luis Cruz Azaceta is a Cuban born artist and past FWM Artist-in-Residence whose style has evolved from “Apocalyptic pop” to Neo-expressionism, highlighting his bold colors and jarring forms. Born in Havana in the 1940s, Azaceta’s paintings reflect the experiences of his youth, portraying themes of violence, injustice, and human capacity for cruelty. This umbrella was designed in conjunction with a rain jacket of the same print, depicting bloody, primary red knives falling from a royal blue sky.
