Description

Over the years, as William Wegman’s canine family grew, he continued to photograph them in various costumes, poses and settings. This photograph of a small Weimaraner puppy casually resting in a human hand demonstrates the mutual trust and affection Wegman has established with his subjects.

Meet the Artist

A portrait of the artist William Wegman in his studio with his two dogs. He is an older white man with light blonde hair and glasses. Seated at a 3/4 turn and gazing at the viewer, Wegman is holding the left paw of his Weimaraner, a large silver-brown sporting dog, who also gazes at the viewer while panting slightly. The second dog stands next to the other on a table above the artist and is focused at something off-camera.

William Wegman is an artist and photographer most celebrated for his ongoing series of compositions featuring his Weimaraner dogs. On the occasion of his exhibition at FWM, Wegman designed two oversized silk scarves featuring his Weimaraners in unusual poses and perspectives.
