Material Dreams

Description

With explorations of fabric as material in a variety of media, this exhibition catalogue features work by artists Han Feng, Ava Gerber, Jim Hodges, Beverly Semmes, and John Swanger. Curator Lynn Gumpert writes that these artists are connected by an “interest in the ethereality of fabric, a quality they exploit to create dreamlike, haunting artworks.”

Presented in the form of an artists’ book, Material Dreams was carefully designed with several different papers, textured cardstock wrappers, a riveted binding, and a ribbon closure. Produced in conjunction with the exhibition Material Dreams, presented at Takashimaya Gallery in 1995.
